MBNA Corporation was founded in the U.S. in 1982 bringing innovation and change to the credit card industry. We grew from being a small regional credit card issuer to become the largest independent credit card issuer in the world, and in January 2006 became a subsidiary of Bank of America.

To get the right customers, we appealed to people with a strong common interest through a concept known as Affinity Marketing. Today our credit cards and related products are endorsed by more than 5,000 organisations, sports teams to financial institutions worldwide.

MBNA expanded into Europe, opening for business in October 1993. With a commitment to deliver higher standards and a drive to exceed your expectations, we have grown to become the largest credit card lender in the UK. We are proud to service over 7 million Customers from our headquarters in Chester.

We have established successful affinity card programmes and our credit cards are endorsed by almost 800 organisations as diverse as Alliance & Leicester, WWF, Liverpool Football Club, Virgin, Breakthrough Breast Cancer and The National Trust.
